woman and aging: celebrating womanhood (2022-2023)
This photographic work deals with aging as a woman - what it means to be a woman, why men are the only ones "allowed" to age and to what extent women and men age differently, both physically, emotionally, socially and societally.
I photographed 4 women, each of whom I visited at home. Before photographing them, I chatted with them about their attitudes toward aging, their bodies, and the future. In doing so, I researched the relationship between social pressure and personal or family interactions. To what extent can one free oneself from social ideals?
I summarized these findings in an essay and recorded the work in a self-bound book (repros coming soon).
