LUST (2022-now)

What is disgust?
Why do we experience it?
How subjective or personal can disgust be?

“LUST” is an artistic exploration of the feeling of disgust. Staged still lifes and found scenes present objects and situations that may be perceived as repulsive. The aim is to challenge viewers and encourage them to rethink their notions of aesthetics, as the boundaries between attraction and aversion begin to blur. This work invites the exploration of internal contradictions and the deeper layers of one’s own perception.

A central element of the project are interactive feel boxes that invite visitors to reach inside without seeing what’s inside. These elements intensify multisensory perception and leave room for individual imagination.

The work also questions the photographic process itself. In contrast to the widespread aestheticization of photography, „LUST“ examines what is considered worth showing - and why. Which motifs do we find appealing, which are repulsive? What drives us as image authors to capture one moment - and overlook another? By irritating viewing habits, the work encourages reflection on visual imprints and the limits of what can be depicted.

Trigger warning: This work contains explicit and graphic content.
