i think of you often and i want you to know (2024-2026)
my sister cut off contact with me and my family in 2019.
she left unanswered questions behind, making closure impossible. this state between presence and absence forms the starting point of the work and becomes visible through the concept of ambiguous loss which is a form of loss that cannot be resolved or brought to an end.
her absence points to a relationship that could have continued. conversations, shared memories and a part of my life remain unlived. at the center are these open possibilities and the traces this experience leaves behind
photography and text become an attempt to move closer to this condition. they engage with grief, longing, and uncertainty without resolving them, leaving open a space in which what is missing continues to exist.
the work unfolds across four interconnected layers: personal text fragments, associative photographs, documents such as drawings, objects, and notes connected to my sister, as well as altered photographs from the family archive.
